“Video: Udaipur’s City Palace in a Wheelchair”
Udaipur’s City Palace was built in the 16th century. The main concept behind the design of the palace was that in the case of an enemy attack it becomes extremely difficult for them to infiltrate. This has resulted in a lot of narrow passages and small doors.
Obviously, nobody thought of the disabled tourists that would visit the palace 400 years later 😉
Nevertheless, the trust managing the palace has given a serious thought to our access needs. The ramp that I used to enter the King’s Palace is as new as of November 2016. There are also small ramps throughout the City Place to go over single steps.
