Pride hotel is a medium budget accommodation in Pune where wheelchair users can stay.

It is located in the central part of the city, 11 kilometers from Pune’s Lohegaon Airport (PNQ) and 3.9 kilometers from Pune railway station.

Features of accessible hotel room

There are 112 rooms in the hotel, but only one is disabled friendly. This room is located on the first floor of the hotel. It has a wooden floor and the ambiance is extremely cosy.

There is a double-bed and you can ask for an extra mattress that will be placed on the floor. If you want to move around in the room, that mattress will have to be folded and kept aside. When shifting, I had to slide the bed to one side of the room, towards the wardrobe, so that the wheelchair could be placed adjacent to the bed. The door of the wardrobe was sliding, so it was not a problem to open it.

Amenities inside the room include a wardrobe, electronic safe, working desk, TV, minibar, tea- and coffee-maker and a wheelchair accessible bathroom.

The bathroom is just large enough for a wheelchair to move around easily and has a roll in shower. The commode does not have side bars that could have been used for support when shifting. The stand to store bath towels is very high and cannot be reached by someone sitting on a wheelchair.

Overall, this hotel is a good option because it is not too heavy on the pocket. Basics such as entering the hotel, staying in the disabled-friendly room and entering the restaurant that serves breakfast are convenient for any wheelchair user.

However, I found it disappointing that all areas of the hotel were not accessible. This includes their popular Puran Da Dhaba restaurant, spa and the swimming pool area to some extent.
